On Thursday, actress and media mogul Connie Ferguson took to her Instagram page to share her appreciation for the support she’s received since the passing of her husband and filmmaker, Shona Ferguson.
He passed away on 30 July 2021 from COVID-19 complications.
“I really have no words but to say thank you,” she wrote.
“Thank you South Africa, the continent and the world at large for the outpouring of love, words of comfort and prayers. My family and I appreciate you. God bless you all.”

She went on to say that her daughters, her sister and her grandson have held each others’ hands so tight during this hard time.
“Dad lives on in our hearts and the many great memories we’ve shared over the past 20 years,” she wrote.
“He’ll always be with us. God will give us the strength to soldier on and heal our broken hearts. To my brothers and sisters on both sides, God is still God. He will see us through. To my angel She, thank you for the best 20 years of my life! I love you and know that you are with us in spirit. One day we’ll be reunited, and all the angels in heaven will rejoice.”

She shared this message a day after her late husband was laid to rest in a funeral service held in Johannesburg.
MEMORIAL SERVICE
Earlier today, friends and colleagues gathered in Johannesburg to honour Shona’s memory in a memorial service.
The service was emceed by actor Sello Maake Ka-Ncube and included a performance by Judith Sephuma, Shona’s daughter, Alicia, and included a special tribute by Connie.
